RISE with SAP

Move to S/4HANA Cloud with a partner who knows ECC.

Talk to a RISE Expert

What Is RISE with SAP?

RISE with SAP is SAP's subscription offering for S/4HANA Cloud Private Edition: the software, the cloud infrastructure and SAP's technical operations, bundled into one contract and one recurring fee.

With RISE, SAP runs your S/4HANA system on the hyperscaler you choose, such as AWS, Microsoft Azure or Google Cloud, and looks after the infrastructure, database and technical operations. Depending on the package, RISE also includes tools such as SAP Business Technology Platform credits, SAP Signavio, SAP LeanIX and SAP Cloud ALM. What RISE does not include is the move itself, or the day-to-day work of running your business processes in SAP. That is where CONTAX comes in: we convert your ECC system, bring your custom code and integrations across, and support you after go-live.

Is RISE Right for You?

There are three ways to run S/4HANA. We help you choose based on your processes, your custom code and how you prefer to pay.

Own It

Perpetual S/4HANA licenses, hosted where you choose.

  • Full control of upgrades and hosting
  • Upfront licenses plus annual maintenance
  • You or your partner run the system

RISE with SAP

S/4HANA Cloud Private Edition as a subscription.

  • Convert your ECC system and keep your history
  • Full ABAP extensibility, clean core encouraged
  • SAP runs the infrastructure and technical operations

GROW with SAP

S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition as a subscription.

  • New implementation using SAP standard processes
  • Clean core required, extensions on SAP BTP
  • SAP upgrades the system twice a year

RISE with SAP FAQ

What is RISE with SAP?

RISE with SAP is SAP's subscription offering built around S/4HANA Cloud Private Edition. It bundles the software, cloud infrastructure on a hyperscaler such as AWS, Azure or Google Cloud, and SAP's technical operations into one contract and recurring fee.

What is the difference between RISE with SAP and GROW with SAP?

RISE is based on S/4HANA Cloud Private Edition: a single-tenant system that supports converting your ECC system, with full ABAP extensibility. GROW is based on S/4HANA Cloud Public Edition: a multi-tenant, standardized system for new implementations only, with a mandatory clean core and two automatic upgrades a year.

Can we move our existing ECC system to RISE without starting over?

Yes. RISE supports a system conversion of your ECC system, as well as selective data transition, so you can keep your configuration, custom code and history. Starting fresh is also an option if you want to redesign your processes.

Does RISE include the implementation?

No. RISE covers the software, infrastructure and technical operations. The conversion or implementation project, and the application support afterwards, are delivered by a partner such as CONTAX.

What happens to the SAP licenses we already own?

SAP offers ways to credit the value of existing licenses toward a RISE subscription. The terms depend on your contract, so we review them with you as part of the business case.

When does SAP ECC support end?

Mainstream maintenance for SAP ECC 6.0 ends on December 31, 2027. Extended maintenance is available to the end of 2030 at an extra cost, and SAP has offered longer support to some customers who commit to moving to RISE. Either way, now is the time to plan the move.

Can RISE run on AWS?

Yes. AWS is one of the hyperscalers you can choose for RISE with SAP. If you would rather keep ownership of your licenses, CONTAX can also run S/4HANA for you on your own AWS account.
